John William Bass
John William Bass, 86, of Summerville, SC, entered eternal rest Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, from 11am to 12pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. The funeral service will begin at 12pm in the chapel. Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens.
John was born July 15, 1938, in Johnston City, NC, the son of the late John Daniel Bass and Eula May Casey Bass. He married the love of his life, Gertrude Elizabeth, and they spent 54 years together. John served in the U.S Air Force and was a true patriot. He served as an assistant store manager with Rodenburg Supermarket and was also the assistant Chief with Gaston Detective Agency in North Charleston, SC. John later opened his own transportation company named Bass Mobile Home Moving and managed it until his retirement.
He is survived by his Children: Debra Bourgeois, Sandra Bass, and Elizabeth Carroll; a stepdaughter, Joyce Thomas; 7 beloved grandchildren; 17 beloved great grandchildren; as well as 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Christopher Michael Grooms and Anthony Wayne Paul; 4 beloved sisters and 1 brother; as well as a step-son, Thomas Kirven.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date for Robert Martin (Robbie) Bass, 64, of Columbia, who passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Tommy Ray Bass; Mother, Vondell Miley Bass.
He is survived by his Daughter, Victoria Shearer (Charlie); two Grandchildren, Parker Shearer and Cade Shearer; Brother, Brian Bass (Paula).
