Hattiesburg Services were held Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Moore Funeral Home for David Bass Jr., 76, of Hattiesburg, who died July 9 at Forrest General Hospital. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Bass was a longtime resident of Hattiesburg where he was a self-taught architect and general contractor for 60 years. He was a U.S. navy and Army veteran of World War II, and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, David C. Bass III of Petal and Allen Dale Bass of Hattiesburg; a daughter, Rita Diane Eschete of Houma, La.; a sister, Martha Ann Zeringue of Hattiesburg; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Moore Funeral Home of Hattiesburg was in charge of arrangements.
