Justin Jay Bassett
(January 5, 1955 – May 24, 2012)
Chaplain Justin Jay Bassett, 57 of Fowler passed away on May 24, 2012.
Jay was born January 5, 1955 in Rocky Ford, Co to Martin B. and Mikell Ann Bassett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; son, Cade (Jennifer Cooper), daughter, Chelsey (Mark) Tomky; grandchildren, Cainan, Tessa, Elena, Gabriel, Jeremy; mother, Mikell Ann and sister Debby.
He is preceded in death by his father Martin Bassett, grandparents, Roberta & Charlie Bassett and Mildred & Fred Barrett.
He touched the hearts and lives of many and will be greatly missed. During his stay at the Joni Fair Hospice House, Jay received a lovely afghan blanket that brought comfort to him and his family. In honor of Jay’s memory, please bring a roll of yarn to his memorial service in order to make more afghans for other hospice patients and their families. This was an important part of Jay’s mission work and one of his last wishes was to keep the Hospice House supplied with afghans.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Halouska Funeral Chapel, 321 S. Main St. in Fowler with Chaplain Cliff Schulz of the Freewill Church & Ministries of Manzanola officiating.
The Bassett family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Sangre de Cristo Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005 direct or through the funeral home office.
