On 13 January 1791: Enock Basitt of Sandgate, Bennington, Vermont sold for ten pounds; fifty acres of land in Sandgate to William Worner also of Sandgate. The land belonged to the Second Division, No. 60, to which the original proprietor was James Cochran. The sale was recorded in the BENNINGTON VERMONT LAND RECORDS, Book No. 2, p. 33. CIVIC ACTIVITIES: ENOCH Bassett was active in the civic affairs of the Town of Sandgate, working on and with the Town Council. On 22 March 1791 he governed the meeting and served as a Trustee for a school district, and as a "granjuriman." See BENNINGTON VERMONT LAND RECORDS, Book No. 2, pp. 14, 15 & 16. RESIDENCE IN NEW YORK: Enoch Bassett is listed on the Assessment Roll of the town of Salem, New York for the year 1795 for 23 pounds for personal estate (not real estate). (Possibly for 1794.)
