      I Samuel Bristoll of Sandgate, Bennington, Connecticut, Yeoman for the sum of Fifteen Pounds paid to me by Enock Bassitt of Sandgate ... do sell one Hundred acres of land in Sandgate belonging to the second Divison fifty acres Belonging to Number 34 and fifty to Number 60. Original Propriator James Cowan and James C??le. Sealed this 16 day of December AD 1784 in the Ninth year of the American Independence. Signed: Samuel Bristoll.       I Enock Bassitt of Sandgate of the County of Bennington State of Vermont Yeoman for the sum of three pounds paid by Jonathan Wilkinson of New Milford County of Litchfield State of Connecticut sold fourteen acres of land of the Second Division to layout lying in Sandgate belonging to the Right No. ninety four original proprieter Robard Cowan. Signed & sealed this tenth day of November AD 1786 and in the tenth year of the American Independence. Signed: Enock Bassitt. Witnessed: Wait Burt, Amos Wilkinson. The sale was recorded in the BENNINGTON VERMONT LAND RECORDS, Book No. 2, p. 243. Recorded on 30 November 1787. FHL Film No. 28810.

      LAND: Enoch Bassett sold land in Sandgate, Bennington, Vermont to William Warner:
      On 13 January 1791: Enock Basitt of Sandgate, Bennington, Vermont sold for ten pounds; fifty acres of land in Sandgate to William Worner also of Sandgate. The land belonged to the Second Division, No. 60, to which the original proprietor was James Cochran. The sale was recorded in the BENNINGTON VERMONT LAND RECORDS, Book No. 2, p. 33. Recorded on 6 February 1791. FHL Film No. 28810.

      EARMARKS OF ANIMALS: Enoch Bassett registered the earmark identification of his animals in Sandgate: Enock Basitt, Earmark is a half Crop the under side the Left Ear and half penny the under Side the Same.       CIVIC ACTIVITIES: ENOCH Bassett was active in the civic affairs of the Town of Sandgate, working on and with the Town Council. On 22 March 1791 he governed the meeting and served as a Trustee for a school district, and as a "granjuriman." See BENNINGTON VERMONT LAND RECORDS, Book No. 2, pp. 14, 15 & 16.       RESIDENCE IN NEW YORK: Enoch Bassett is listed on the Assessment Roll of the town of Salem, New York for the year 1795 for 23 pounds for personal estate (not real estate). (Possibly for 1794.)
