Christy Gaston Bass
Christy Gaston Bass, age 65, of Dallas, passed away at her home on August 31, 2024. Born in Austin, Texas, on March 25, 1959, to William and Eleanor Gaston, Christy cherished her time on the lakes of Austin, where she was an avid competitive slalom water skier.
A proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and the University of Texas at Austin, she earned a degree in Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business and was an engaged member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Christy started her career at Arthur Anderson & Co. in Dallas in 1981, later becoming instrumental in the company's transformation into Accenture. Known for her expertise in management consulting, she played a key role in the early adoption of ERP systems and significantly contributed to Bank of America's integration of local banks.
Christy was passionate about women's rights and equal opportunities in the workplace, breaking through barriers herself and advocating for others. Her insights led to media recognition, highlighting her support for women in business.
After her professional career, Christy developed a love for traveling, particularly in Africa, where she enjoyed numerous safaris and formed deep connections with the local people. She was actively involved in charitable organizations, including the Dallas Junior League, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the American Heart Association.
She is survived by her sons, William Bass and Brian Bass; her brother, Brian Gaston, and his wife, Jenny; and their daughters, Whitney Abblitt, Caroline Gaston, and Paige Gaston.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the support given to Christy by her care givers including Dottie Matthews, Elvira Garcia, Luz Mariam Alonso Rodriguez, Terra Raine, and Connie Cazares.
Christy's service will be held Saturday, October 5th, 11am at Saint Michael & All Angels Church, 8011 Douglas Avenue at Colgate, Dallas, TX, 75225
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Christy's name to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, or the American Heart Association.
