Robert Home Bass
Mr. Robert Homer Bass, age 85, a resident of Croasdaile Village in Durham, died on October 19, 2015. He was born in Danville, Virginia, to the late John Robert Bass and Lille Mae Moorefield. Homer graduated and received his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Duke University. He retired as the director of accounting systems and procedures for Duke University, where he had worked since 1958. Homer enjoyed traveling and photography, but the most important part of his life was spending time with his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Bass served as a member of the Rotary Club and took great pride in helping to arrange and coordinate the Durham Crop Walk. Mr. Bass is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cordie H. Bass; his son, Robert H. Bass and his wife, Gayle Dean; his daughter, Carla B. Viana and her husband, Michael; his son, Charles Bass and his wife, Agnes; and his five grandchildren, Lauren Bass, Ella Bass, Zachary Viana, Tristan Viana, and Ariel Viana. Memorial Services for Mr. Bass will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 N. Church Street, Durham N.C. Interment will follow at the church columbarium. Friends may visit from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service located at 1113 West Main Street in Durham.
