Julia R. Bassette (Includes picture)
HAMPTON - Julia R. Bassette, widow of Dr. Andrew Bassette III, passed away on April 19, 2015 at the Hampton Sentara Careplex. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ on January 13, 1924, the oldest girl in a family of six children. Julia completed the Hampton University Nursing Program in 1946 and her family moved to St. Louis, MO, where she received her B. S. degree in Nursing from St. Louis University in July 1958. She also received her Master of Arts degree from Hampton University in Counseling in 1968. Julia is survived by her son, Andrew IV, two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home on Thursday, April 30, 2015 beginning at noon and the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at noon in the Hampton University Memorial Church.
