      Kosterman Dies As Result of Fall Injuries

      Raymond C. Kosterman, 55, of 358 Conway Street, father of five, died early this morning at Springfield Hospital from injuries received in a fall on Federal Street a week ago. Kosterman suffered head and back injuries when he fell 15 feet from a ladder on Federal Street near Osgood at 7:15 p.m. last Thursday. He was placing a sign on the Checker Cab Co., wall when he lost his balance and fell, according to witnesses. After treatment at Franklin County Public Hospital he was transferred to the intensive unit at Springfield Hospital. Born on April 12, 1909, in Racine, Wis., he was the son of Charles and Catherine Kosterman. He was employed as a salesman and installer of signs for the New England Sign Co., of Holyoke. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield Lodge of Moose and had lived in Greenfield 23 years. He leaves his widow, the former Ethel M. Bassett; three sons, Lance Cpl. Charles Kosterman of the Marines, now in the Mediterranean area. Richard and Warren, both at home; two daughters, Marcia and Sandra, at home; a brother, Norbert Kosterman of Racine, Wis.; seven sisters, Mrs. Feny Ruffalo, Mrs. Howard Bhuehler, Mrs. Clarence Cook, Mrs. Stephen Golden, Mrs. Edward Small and Mrs. Edward Zens, all of Racine, and Mrs. Edward Maller of Colorado; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. from McCarthy Funeral Home with Requiem High Mass at 9 in Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
