William E. Bassett, Lawton, Man, Dies
LAWTON, Feb. 22 ? William Eugene Bassett, 59, died Saturday at his home here after 12 years illness.
For a number of years he worked on the track of the New York Central railroad and later as a baggate man. Twenty-five years ago he took up grape farming south of Lawton. He retired from farming eight years ago on account of ill health and moved into the village.
Mr. Bassett was born December 6, 1873, son of William and Elvina Bassett, of Jones, Mich. He was a life member of Lawton Masonic lodge.
Nov. 8, 1919, ha married Clara Kascheutenut, at Chicago She survives him, as do also two stepsons, Enos Eutenuth of Lawton, and Philip Eutenuth of Chicago; also two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Cameron mortuary. Rev. Ivan Hodgson, pastor of the Methodist church, will officiate. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
