Final Rites for Lila R. Bassett
Lila R. Bassett, 87, an Arnold native, died June 29, 1992, in Roswell, New Mexico. Services were held July 3rd at the First Baptist Church in Arnold at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Les Canfield officiating.
Survivors include one son, Richard, of Jamestown, North Dakota; and one daughter, Mrs. Elayne Nezzer, of Lamar, Colorado; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six sisters and two brothers who reside in Montana, California, and Oregon.
Music was provided by Mrs. Edwin Johnson and Mrs. Wes Larreau.
Pallbearers were Howard Van Cleave, Charlie Roth, Stuart Watson, Robert Watson, Fay Wilson, and Bernard Wilson.
Interment was in the Arnold Cemetery.
Arnold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lila Bassett was born to Harry I. Sell and Eva A. Linn of Arnold, Nebraska on October 15, 1904.
She was united in marriage to Clifford L. Bassett on December 25, 1924. To this marriage was born three children. One daughter, Doris Jean, passed away in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs. Bassett lived in Pine Canyon, Arnold; Rock Springs, Wyoming; Billings, Montana; and Gardenia, California, where Lila taught school for 26 years. After retirement, several years were spent in Mt. Vernon, Ohio; Lakeland, Florida; and Roswell, New Mexico.
Her husband preceded her in death.
