- Clifford Bassett was born to Charles W. and Fannie Bassett in Pine Canyon, near Callaway, Nebraska on November 26, 1903.
He grew to manhood in Pine Canyon. On December 25, 1924 he was united in marriage to Lila Sell. To this union were born three children. One daughter, Doris Jean, passed away in infancy.
Surviving are his wife, Lila Bassett; one son, Richard of Jamestown, North Dakota; and one daughter, Mrs. Elayne Nezzer of Lakeland, Florida; and four grandchildren. He is survived also by one brother, Sidney Bassett of Arnold; and one sister, Mrs. Grace Sheets of North Platte.
Mr. and Mrs. Bassett lived in Springs, Wyoming; Billings, Montana; and in Gardena, Calif. where he spent 22 years as a Ford mechanic. After retirement, several years were spent in Mount Vernon, Ohio, from where they moved to Lakeland, Florida where he passed away on October 26, 1980. His body was returned to Arnold for services at the Baptist Church and burial in the Arnold Cemetery.
Memorial services were held October 30, 1980 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gus Kubish officiating. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Dale Fletcher, and Mrs. Gerald Harter, organist. Casket Bearers were Dick Bassett, Walter Bassett, Howard Van Cleave, Bert Troyer, Glen Bassett and Dennis Bassett.
The Arnold Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
