Fatal Accident To A Devonshire Gentleman
A fatal accident occurred in North Devon a few days since to Arthur Crawford Bassett, Esquire, of Watermouth Castle, near Ilfracombe. He was riding a horse in the road, near his residence. The horse stumbled and Mr. Bassett was thrown, pitching on his head and breaking his neck. Death was instantaneous. Mr. Bassett represented an old Devonshire family. It is reported that he has left a property worth half a million. Mr. Bassett was aged about 50, and unmarried.
