Elmer Ray Bassett was born in Maries County a few miles south of Vienna on January 24, 1883, the youngest son of Freeman, a farmer, and Katherine Bassett. Elmer died at the age of 70 years, April 5, 1953.
Cora Ellen (Johnson) Bassett was born in Maries County February 20, 1885, the daughter of Monroe and Naomi O. (Fleming) Johnson. The Johnsons are listed in King's Maries County History as early settlers. Cora died August 1, 1955.
Elmer and Cora were married June 1901, and lived most of their married life in Maries and Pulaski County.
They were the parents of 9 children, 6 boys and 3 girls; Nola Edna (March 7, 1902), Arthur Freeman Monroe (January 29, 1904), Clarence Raymond (June 26, 1905), Wayne Johnson (May 16, 1906), Clyde Elmer (June 21, 1910), Harry Franklin (February 19, 1912) Cora Blanche (November 11, 1914), Joseph Avery (October 16, 1918), and Grace Evadine (November 14, 1923).

Harry married Esther Watson in 1934. They had one son Vernon (October 8, 1935). Harry and Esther moved to the state of California in early 1936. Esther was killed in a car accident, Juily 16, 1936. Vernon Bassett married Oowetta Troglia. One son Randy married Paula Barrett, November 11, 1978. They had two children, Jennifer (February 9, 1980) and Jessica (November 30, 1981). Randy is now deceased. Sandra married Daniel Morse and had 3 children: Miles (May 20, 1980), Shane (May 31, 1981), and Michelle (May 28, 1983).
Harry married Bernice Schultz of California August 30, 1937. They had one son Fred L. Bassett. Fred married Diane Douglas (February 11, 1961). One son Loren, one daughter Valerie. Loren married Michelle McLaughlin, May 4, 1985.
Blanche married Robert Eckert, no descendants. Robert died January 9, 1984.
