      Ruth E. Pearson

Ruth E. Pearson, 89, Jonesboro, passed away at 6:06 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, September 16, 1934, to George A. Luckey and Florence E. (Jenkins) Luckey. On May 10, 1957 she married Robert Pearson and they were married for 45 years.
Ruth enjoyed being a homemaker for her family. She was a long-time member of the Jonesboro Friends Church. She volunteered at Marie Webster's Quilters Hall of Fame and Gilead Ministries. Ruth loved cooking and making things, especially homemade noodles. She loved traveling, especially on her bus trips. She enjoyed going to see lighthouses and even collected lighthouses and "cats' meows" from her trips. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch and quilting. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially humming birds and butterflies. Most of all, she loved her family. She loved when her grandchildren and great grands would come to visit; her eyes would just light up.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth (Cheryl) Pearson of Milford, John (Lorena) Pearson of Jonesboro; daughter, Nancy (Jeff) Slater of Van Buren; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Luckey and Florence Luckey; husband, Robert Pearson; sisters, Catherine Nelson and Martha Roberts; and brother, James Luckey.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
