Oscar Lee Bassett, 88, of Reader, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at the New Martinsville Health Care Center. He was a Protestant by faith. He retired from the B & O Railroad, Pine Grove.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella Brown Bassett; his parents, Lash and Catherine Caylor Bassett, and son, Eugene.
Surviving are four daughters, Linda Adams and Sue Bassett, both of Reader, Catherine Carpenter of Lexington, Kentucky, and Terry Roberts of Smithfield; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received Monday at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, where services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment at the Straight Cemetery, Reader.

He was a son of the late Lash and Catherine Caylor Bassett.
His wife, Rosella Brown Bassett, preceded him in death.

Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at the Straight Cemetery, Reader.
