Cole-Bassett Wedding Solemnized
Miss Laura Mae Bassett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Bassett of North Hoosick, was married today at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Hoosick Falls, to Walter A. Cole, jr. son of Walter A. Cole of North Bennington.
Rev. James Ambrose, C.S.A, performed the ceremony and celebrated the nuptial mass. Miss Phyllis White presided at the organ and baskets of mixed spring flowers adorned the church.
Miss Marjorie Bassett was her sister?s maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss Rita Brady of North Hoosick and Miss Betty Jane Cole, sister of the bridegroom. Robert Cole served as best man for his brother and the ushers were William Rowe of Hoosick Falls and Robert Roy of Bennington.
The bride wore a white satin wedding gown with a V neckline, lace yoke, fitted bodice and long train. Her fingertip veil fell from a satin bonnet and she carried a bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and baby?s breath. The honor attendant was attired in a light blue marquisette gown with a round neckline trimmed with a ruffle of gold and a shoulder length veil falling from a wreath of flowers. The bridemaids? gowns were similar in pink and yellow. They all carried Colonial bouquets of mixed spring flowers.
A reception followed at the home of the bridegroom for 78 guests. The bride?s mother wore a black print dress with white accessories and a corsage of white roses and baby?s breath. The mother of the bridegroom wore a black suit with white accents and a similar corsage.
The bride attended Hoosick Falls High School and is employed at the E-Z Mills, Bennington. The bridegroom, a graduate of North Bennington High School, served three years in the Navy and is employed at the National Carbon Co., in Bennington.
The couple left on a wedding trip by motor to Canada, the bride traveling in a navy blue suit with white accessories and a corsage of white roses. They will reside in North Bennington. Guests attended the wedding from Boston, Rutland, Burlington, Vt., Bennington and Hoosick Falls.
