      Edwin A. Bassett, 59, who had lived at the home of his brother, Sidney, in Arnold, since 1945, died in Arnold on Saturday, following a lengthy illness.
      Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 15, from the Baptist church in Arnold, with Rev. Roy F. Walker in charge.
      Mrs. Ray Walker and Mrs. Fred Herman, accompanied by Mrs. L. O. Swisher, sang during the service.
      Pall bearers were: L.O. Swisher, Christ Roth, Raplh Halouska, Jay Tryong, W.B. Halger, and Robert Watson.
      Burial was in the Arnold cemetery.
      Edwin Allison Bassett, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Charles W. Bassett, was born February 9, 1889, near Callaway, Nebraska, and died on march 12, 1949 at the age of 59 years, one month and three days.
      He spent his childhood in what is known as Pine Canyon, and attended the Pine Canyon school. He helped farm the home place until 1925, when he moved with his brother, Floyd, to Keith county.
      Never having good eyesight, his eyes failed rapidly and for 24 years he had been totally blind.
      He bought a farm in Keith county and lived in his own home for several years after his eyesight failed. He then moved to the home of a brother, Jesse for 10 years. In September 1945 he returned to Arnold to the home of his brother, Sidney.
      His health began to fail in December 1947 and he had been ill since that time. He joined the Baptist church after his return to Arnold and was in regular attendance as long as possible.
      He is survived by two sisters and six brothers, including: Frank, Dawson Creek, B.C., Canada; William, Arnold; Jesse, Paxton; Mrs. Glayds Harper of Cheynne, Wyoming; Floyd, North Platte; Sidney, Arnold; Clifford, Gardenia, California; and Mrs. Grace Sheets, North Platte.
      Two sisters, three borhters and his father and mother preceeded him in death. He is also survived by 32 neices and nephews.
