She was born May 31, 1919, in West Grove, Iowa, to Austin and Eda Luse Bassett. She married Johnnie Harold Lasley Sept. 29, 1964, in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Verne Wray Christy July 15, 1983, in Kirksville, Mo. He preceded her in death in 2004.She graduated from Moulton High School in 1936 and from NMSU Teacher's College in 1964. She was a teacher in Drakesville, Troy, Moulton-Udell and the Davis County School System during her career. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Moulton, Iowa.She is survived by a brother, Wayne Bassett of Warner Robins, Ga.; nieces and a nephew.She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands and a brother, Wray Bassett.Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa, with Pastor James Wakelin officiating. My grandfather, Everett Elwood Ernst, was a freshman at Bloomfield Junior College, Bloomfield, Iowa, in 1937. I recently found his yearbook in my grandmother's estate and would like to share and identify pictures and information.My grandfather's classmates included Madeline Bassett, Audrey Brown, Jane Grim, Betty Lou Russell, Aileen Figgins, Martha Standard, Christine Steeples, Betty Clendenen, Muriel Tisdale, Elsie Hayes, Louise Guthrie, Lois Guthrie, Florence Hendricks, Lois Thompson, James Sloan, Jack Higbee, Rex Jones, Horace Hardy, Justin Martin, Ed Ensminger, Mahlon Miller, Polly Denny, Lawrence Kinsinger, Beach Cline, Craig Henderson, and Marvin Martin.The graduating class (1937) included Isabel Barker, Dorothy DeVault, Emily Norris, Robert Collins, Margaret Hockersmith Boone (the only married member of the student body), Kenneth Millsap, June Sloan, Marne Evans, Dorothy Hill, and Helen Fleming.The faculty included Mr E T Carlstedt (social sciences and dean), Miss Adele Kennedy (French and English), Miss Miriam Hockett (girls' glee club), Miss Doris Beuter (math), Mr Herbert Rhoads (biology and men's PE), Mr Paul V Bissell (speech), Miss Alice Ethell (girls' PE), and Mr H Ostergaard (registrar and superintendent).
