  Notes	Evening Times-Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa, Saturday, 9 March 1912 State Center Woman Dies Mrs. Sarah A. Bassett Succumbs to Ailments of Old Age Mrs. Sarah A. Bassett, widow of Rev. George W. Bassett, and an old and well-known woman of State Center, died at her home there at 3 o?clock Friday afternoon of ailments of old age. Mrs. Bassett had been failing steadily for several weeks. Mrs. Bassett was born in York, N.Y., Nov. 12, 1820. She became the wife of Rev. George W. Bassett, a Presbyterian preacher, May 20, 1844. Rev. Mr. Bassett held pastorates at Ottawa, Ill, Milwaukee, and Washington, D.C. In 1864 the family moved to State Center, where Rev. Mr. Bassett died in 1880. Three children, Miss Harriet Bassett, teacher of drawing in the State Center Schools; Mrs. Andrew J. Palmer, of State Center and Mr. G.G. Bassett, of this city, survive her, as does one sister, Mrs. Mealnie G. Holmes, of Evanston, Ill. The funeral will be held from the A. J. Palmer home Sunday afternoon at 3 o?clock, Rev. Henry Love officiating. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.
