Floyd B. Bassett

BERLIN ? Floyd B. Bassett, 96, died peacefully at his home in Berlin on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in North Hoosick on June 4, 1929, the son of the late Hudson and Beatrice (Wilson) Bassett.
He was raised and educated in Hoosick Falls and at the age of 15, enlisted in the New York State National Guard. He later enlisted twice in the United States Navy and was served aboard the airplane carrier the USS Tarawa (CV- 40) following World War II.
Floyd was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenter?s Union # 210 based in Troy.
He was an artist and enjoyed painting. He also loved to fish and hunt especially with his three sons. He enjoyed eating breakfast at his favorite spot, Jean?s Place in North Hoosick.
He was the loving companion of Mary B. Ruebel; devoted father of Steve (Kathrynn) Bassett of Greenwich, NY, William (Jennifer) Bassett of Salem, NY and Michael Bassett of Salem, NY; proud grandfather of Tonya, Ben, Alex, Scott, Jenna, Adam and Kiley; great grandfather of Corinne, Adeline, Marcy, Harrison, Remi, Raidan, Lauren, Jaelynn, Charlotte and Ensley; brother of the late Marjorie and Laurie Bassett; uncle of Peter and Susan.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
