Mrs. Anna J. Rouse
Anna Jane Jolliff, daughter of William and Martha Jolliff, was born in Marion county, Iowa, on September 4, 1872, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Rouse, at Lucas, Iowa, on February 8, 1945, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 4 days, after a short illness.
She was married to John W. Ruark on November 8, 1893. To them were born four children: Mrs. Stella Apgar, of near Chariton; Effie A. Goben, of Portland, Oregon; Alfred Lee Ruark, and Claude W. Ruark, who preceded his mother in death on November 11, 1939.
She united with the Christian church of Chariton when a young woman. She remained true to her faith in Christ and when younger was found ministering to those who were sick and needed care.
Her husband, John Ruark passed away August 31, 1904.
She was married to John A. Bass on September 15, 1911. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Virginia Angelus, of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Rouse, of Lucas.
John A. Bass died November 28, 1929, at the University hospital at Iowa City.
Mrs. Bass was married to John W. Rouse on October 15, 1944. She was unable to maintain her home on account of ill health and was residing with her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Rouse, at the time of her death.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, John W. Rouse, and four daughters, Mrs. Stella Apgar, Mrs. Effie Goben, Mrs. Virginia Angelus and Mrs. Mabel Rouse; 24 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. One grandson, Billy Goben, preceded her in death.
Three grandsons are in the service of our country, Gerald Ruark, of Des Moines; Howard Goben, of Portland, Oregon and Rex Apgar of Chariton.
Funeral services were held at the L.D.S. church at Lucas this afternoon, conducted by Elder John Blackstock.
