PEASLEEVILLE - Mildred Lillian Bassett, 86, of the Evergreen Valley Healthcare facility and formerly of Peasleeville, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Plattsburgh, June 13, 1920, the daughter of Willis and Edith (Delorme) Durgan.
Mrs. Bassett worked for the Base Exchange in Plattsburgh for many years. She enjoyed bingo; however, her true love was spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Marion Justus of Morrisonville; three loving stepchildren, Bernadette, Bernard and Max Bassett; two granddaughters, Melanie Draper and husband, Rod, of Morrisonville and Penny Bair and husband, Scott, of Plattsburgh; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Hanson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ellen Barnhart of Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Lloyd Bassett; five brothers, Merton, Leonard, Steven, Guy and Charles; and three sisters, Nellie Adams, Marion Durgan and Helen Bailey.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home with the Rev. William G. Reamer CVPH chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Peasleeville Cemetery.
