Cahokia, Illinois - John Richard Bass 58 of Cahokia, IL, born October 31, 1963 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Touchette Regional Hospital.
John was the owner/operator of The Jewelry Exchange and Loan in Cahokia, IL for over 30 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL. John was former member of the Moose Lodge; the Deputy Marshal's in Cahokia, IL; and a little league wrestling coach, He was the 1985 World Series Bellman of the Year at the St. Louis Downtown Sheraton Hotel, where he transported many professional athletes and celebrities - including Huey Lewis and News. John also enjoyed driving and entertaining in his party bus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Beatrice Bass and a brother, James B. Bass.
Surviving are his loving wife of 25 years, Holly Bass, nee Brewer; his children, John Dylan (Caroline) Bass of Biloxi, MS, Garrett Bass of Cahokia, IL, and Breanna (Canaan) Rehbein of Chillicothe, MO. two sisters, Bonnie Howerton of Columbia, IL and Robin Waddington of Columbia, IL; a brother, Patrick (Karan) Bass of Corona delMar, CA. three nephews, Kyle (Alecia) Waddington of Waterloo, IL, Michael (Michelle) Kunzelman of Odenton, MD, and Damian Rivera of Columbia, IL; a niece, Nichole Odem of Belleville, IL; and a grandson, Tucker. John was a dear friend to many.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at Braun Family Funeral Home 265 Quarry Rd. Columbia, IL.
Funeral procession will leave on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 10:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, IL. with Father Osang Indagbo officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family/St. Joseph's Cemetery in Dupo, IL.
