Carol Jenatte (Bassett) Lepine
LEPINE, Carol Jeanette (Bassett), 74, of West Hartford, formerly of Manchester, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, (September 22, 2005) after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was with loved ones. Carol was born May 7, 1931 in Pittsfield, MA, the youngest of five children, to John Emerson and Hazel Mae (Wheeler) Bassett. After graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1949, she worked for General Electric until she relocated to East Hartford in 1960. She proudly raised her family in South Windsor where she opened her home and heart to 22 foster children awaiting adoption. Carol retired seven years ago after loyally serving the State of Connecticut in the Treasury Department. She is survived by her son, Paul J. Lepine of Los Angeles, CA; her son, Keith J. Lepine of Northampton, MA; her daughter, Michele M. Lepine of West Hartford; her brother, Kenneth A. Bassett of Ferguson, MO; her three granddaughters, Nicole, Ellan and Zoe, her great-grandson, Nahzeak; and nieces and nephews. Carol will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, a caring and generous friend, and a lover of animals. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday September 30 at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home in Manchester. Carol's family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Carol's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Humane Society.
