  Notes	Evening Recorder, Amsterdam, N.Y., Friday, July 2, 1965 William Bassett William Bassett, 8 Elias St., who collapsed and died at the wheel of his auto shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday on upper Locust Ave., was a retired employe of the Amsterdam School System. Mr. Bassett was born at Saranac Hollow, N.Y., Aug. 23, 1899, a son of Newell and Cora Bassett. He was employed in the maintenance department of the Amsterdam public Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1963. Surviving Mr. Bassett are his wife, the former Mae McNight, whom he married Aug 23, 1923; two sisters, Mrs. Phillip Collins and Mrs. Grace McKillup, Saranac Lake; two brothers, Wallace and Merritt Bassett, Saranac, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
