Mrs. Charles A. Stowell
Mrs. Gertrude M. Bassett, wife of Charles A. Stowell passed away February 11th, 1927, at her home in Providence, R.I., in her 45th year after a lingering illness. She bore her suffering bravely and faced the inevitable end with cheer and courage. Her passing is a great loss to her family and large circle of friends.
Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Alfred; one daughter, Beatrice M.; a grand-daughter, Muriel Stowell; her mother, Mrs. Cora F. Bassett of Saranac, N.Y.; three brothers, Wallace and Merritt Bassett of Saranac, N.Y.; William Bassett of Amsterdam, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Dassance of Saranac Lake, N.Y. , and Miss Nellie Bassett of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.
Funeral services were held at her late home Monday February 14th. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery. A delegation attended the service from Elmwood Christian church of which she was a member. The floral offerings were many.
The bearers were William Basset, Charles Kirk, Fred Caton, William Bailey and William Lewis.
