Clifford H. Bassett
Cliff died peacefully surrounded by love, after an epic and long fought battle against a lengthy illness.
Cliff was born and raised in Barnstable, the son of Bo and Carol Bassett. As a proud Cape Codder, he was a direct descendent of William and Elizabeth Bassett, who arrived in Plymouth in 1621 on the Fortune, arriving a few weeks after the first Thanksgiving. Cliff served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Newport Virginia, with tours to the Mediterranean and Cuba on the USS Taconic. He was a driver, batcher and dispatcher for Lawrence Concrete for many years. He loved Fishing, Shell Fishing, Woodworking and trying to keep up with his Vegetable Garden. He also enjoyed photography, especially nature and wildlife. He was a true animal lover, having so many pets over the years. He also loved playing his Guitar, having played in several bands " Back in the day."
He leaves Gloria, the love of his life and wife of 53 years, his beloved daughter Amy Bassett, of Groton MA, and Clifford Jr. of Arlington. He also leaves his two loving stepchildren Angela Carmichael, of Denver CO and Christopher Theodore of Hyannis and seven wonderful grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Kim Bassett, and sister Linda Bassett of Cummaquid, and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many friends who will truly miss that Sense of Humor and Bright Spot in their lives.
Per his wishes, there will be a Graveside Service and the Bourne National Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
