Shirley Ann Bass

Carbondale ? Shirley Ann ?Mum? Bass, 85, passed away at 7:52AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Shawnee Christian Village, Herrin with her family by her side.
Shirley was born May 30, 1932 at home to Mervin Oliver and Helen Loretta (Bailey) Baltzell.
She married the love of her life, Jack H. Bass on August 8, 1951 in Bridgeport. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2015.
Survivors include her two sons, Alec B. Bass of Carbondale and Michael T. (Christine) Bass of Makanda; two daughters, Julie D. (David) Trost, and Jill L. (Bruce) Smith, all of Marion; sister, Janice Kay Litts of Lakeland, FL; brother-in-law, Thomas Lewis Bass of Colona; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Woodriffee of Sun Lakes, AZ; eight grandchildren, Kristopher T., Jackson R., and Jeremiah B. Bass, Daniel J., Thomas A., and Steven M. Trost, Christopher J. and Sara A. Martinez; and three great grandchildren, Aiden Kane Bass, Perla Blue Martinez-Bradley, Randall Anne Bass-Townsend.
She was preceded in death by her, husband, parents and two sisters.
Shirley was a homemaker and loved her family very much, they were her life. She was a member of, Grace United Methodist Church of Carbondale, the Church Women United and a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the John A. Logan antique society. She and her husband Jack were very active in genealogy and travelled the country finding family historical places. They loved exploring the United States.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Meredith Funeral Home of Carbondale, with Brother Glen Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Anna.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to Ebenezer Hall Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
