Alcide J. Bassett, 85
Vermont Tap & Die worker; leaves daughters on Cape
LYNDONVILLE, Vt. ? Alcide Joseph Bassett, 85, who leaves two daughters in East Falmouth, died Saturday at Falmouth Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marion (Wallace) Bassett. Mr. Bassett was born in Lime Ridge, Quebec, Canada, and moved to Vermont when he was 6 years old. He is a graduate of the Lyndonville Institute in Lyndonville, Vt. He worked for 37 years at the Vermont Tap & Die Co., retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers and Yankee Water Travelers. He is survived by two daughters, Lois Rattigan and Marion b. Sargent, both of East Falmouth; a son, James A. Bassett of Lakeland, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at his home in Lyndonville at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, 67 Ter Heun Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540.
