- 3B3233A3. Freeman C. Bassett, son of William and Margaret Bassett,was born 24 Feb 1835 in Denmark, Lewis County, New York. He died 2 Aug 1898 in Vienna, Missouri. He was buried on 4 Aug 1898 in Bloomgarden Cemetery located southwest of Vienna, Missouri. He married Catherine Eiffle, daughter of Michael and Mary (Gansey) Eiffle, on 14 Feb 1860, at the residence of the Rev. P. Persons, in Denmark, Lewis County, New York. Catherine was born in Jul 1840 in Luxembourg. She died 18 Jan 1912 in Vienna, Missouri. Catherine is also buried in Bloomgarden Cemetery.
Freeman was about 30 years old and Catherine about 25 when they arrived in Maries County, Missouri in the 1860's. They lived the rest of their lives and raised 9 children on a farm in Maries County, Missouri. The home site is located a few hundred yards south south west of of the intersection of Missouri highways 28 and Y southwest of Vienna, Missouri.

Freeman Bassett, son of William and Margaret Bassett, was born Feburary 24, 1835, place unknown.
Katherine (Effley) Bassett was born July 16, 1840, and came to the United States as a young girl from Luxembourg.
Freeman and Katherine were married February 14, 1860, in Denmark, Lewis County, New York. They came to Maries County sometime in the 1860s. They were in the parents of ten children, all born in Maries County a few miles southwest of Vienna.
(1) Margaret Bassett (Feburary 5, 1861) married Henry Opperman December 13, 1886. Their descendants are George, Frank and Kate Opperman Terry.
(2) Lida Bassett (April 7, 1866 - October 3, 1867).
(3) George Bassett (October 6, 1863 - October 11, 1867).
(4) Richard Bassett (October 5, 1868 - October 14, 1870).
(5) Joseph Bassett (March 4, 1871) married Ina Love October 29, 1893. Their descendants are Raymond, Leonard and Kenneth.
(6) Freeman Bassett (July 29, 1873) married Laura Venderpool October 20, 1895. Their descendants are Claud, Flossie, Edith, Norman, Everett, Mabel and Lawrence.
(7) Rosella Bassett (April 12, 1876) married John Sudheimer February 26, 1899. Their descendants are Clara, Kate, Myrtle, Maggie, Bill, George, Lester and Robert.
(8) Frank W. Bassett (September 29, 1880) married Hilkda Waidelich December 26, 1906. Their descendants are Eunice, Olive and Erma.
(9) Elmer Ray Bassett (January 24, 1882) married Cora Ellen Johnson June 1901. Their descendants are listed in their family history.

Freeman Bassett was a farmer in Maries County. He died August 2, 1898, at the age of 63. Freeman and Katharine are buried in the Bloomgarden Cemetery.

Freeman C. Freeman C. and his older brother Leonard Bassett (born August 21, 1832, and died September 4, 1837) are the only known children of this marriage.
