Ruth Bass Pope
GARNER ? Ms. Ruth Bass Pope, age 79, died Monday evening, Oct. 28, 2019, at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn.
Ms. Pope was born on Aug. 28, 1940, in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Marvin Bass and Eva Kirby Bass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Thomas "Jimmy" Pope.
She was employed with Kinbrell's Furniture as a finance officer and worked at Timberline Cabinets in Angier. She loved playing softball and basketball and working in her yards. She loved her family and her grandson was the apple of her eye.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Dunn. Burial will be at a later date.
She is survived by a son, Michael Thomas Pope of Garner; daughter, Connie Pope Hearn and husband John of Garner; sisters, Eula Avery of Angier and Louise Phillips and husband Benny of Dunn; and a grandson, Austin Hearn.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn, one hour prior to the service.
