CLINTON, NC September 15, 2007Mr. Dewey Lester Bass, 80, of 181 Butler Lake Lane, died Friday, September 15, 2007, at Mary Gran Nursing Center.A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 17, 2007, at Grandview Memorial Park with Pastor David Willis officiating.Mr. Bass, a native of Sampson County, was the son of the late Jodie Prentice Bass and Sallie Bradshaw Bass. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Prentice Pope, Gernie "Jack" Bass, and Pete Bass. He was a World War II Navy veteran and an auto mechanic who retired from Triangle Motor Co. in 1997.Surviving are his wife, Priscilla C. Bass, of the home; a son, Wayne Turner of Maryland; three daughters, Zelda Taylor of Omaha, NE, Deborah Taylor of Maryland, and Wanda Sue Bass; two brothers, Charlie Bass of Harrells and Wade Bass of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Mildred Merritt and Susan Walls, both of Clinton; and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday, September 16th, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
