Harold Dixon Bass Sr., 85
DUNN ? Mr. Harold Dixon Bass Sr., 85, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. He was born in Sampson County on Jan. 12, 1936, to the late John V. and Eliza Baggett Bass. He was preceded in death by his son, John Lawrence Bass.
Mr. Bass was a 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran, where he served in Vietnam. He had worked 21 years for Dunn Fire Department, 14 years for Parker Seed and Feed, and a few years for Dairy Freeze in Dunn. He served on the Dunn City Council, and was a 12-year member of the Rotary Club.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wagoner. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Church Cemetery.
Harold is survived by his wife, Peggy Bass of Dunn; sons, Harold Bass Jr. of Dunn; daughter, Jane Hudson and husband Will of Dunn; grandchildren, J.W. Hudson and Caleb Hudson; three stepsons; two stepdaughters; nine stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
