Mr. Sherrill Felton Bass, 85, of the Meadow Community died Friday, August 21, 2020 at Johnston Health Care in Smithfield.
Sherrill was born October 4, 1934 in Sampson County son of the late Felton and Alma Dawson Bass.He was a 1952 graduate of Dunn High School, a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 59 in Dunn and a member of North Clinton Avenue Baptist Church in Dunn.
Sherrill in his early years worked for Atlantic Coastline and Seaboard Coastline Railroad but for the last forty plus years he and his brother, Jerry have owned and operated Bass Sales & Trim in Dunn.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at North Clinton Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Grover Blackburn, Jr. and Rev. Leon Tart officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Martin Bass; daughters, Deana Lee and husband Greg, Michelle Gregory and husband Dale both of Meadow; grandchildren, Eric Lee and wife Morgan of Willow Spring, Caleb Gregory and wife Sydney of Mebane, Austin Gregory of Meadow and brother, Jerry D. Bass of Dunn.
The family will receive friends 10 ? 11 a.m. Monday at the church one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home.
A public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. ? 3 p.m. Sunday at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.
