Dixie Caddell Hooker

Mrs. Dixie Caddell Hooker of Hartsville entered Heaven's Gates on Saturday morning, November 7th, 2020, at the age of 62. A private family graveside service will be held Monday at the McBee Cemetery. The Reverend Bootsie Griggs and Dr. Richard Clark will officiate.
Dixie was born in Hartsville, South Carolina on April 27th, 1958 and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She graduated from Hartsville High School and attended Florence Darlington Technical College.
She began her working career at Yogi Bear Chicken during high school. After graduation she began her employment with Byerly Hospital where she worked for twenty plus years in the purchasing department. She developed many friendships while employed there. Dixie's last place of employment was with the Medical Group.
Dixie was the middle daughter of Lynn Bass Caddell and the late Carl Allen Caddell. Other surviving relatives include her son Will Avant of Hartsville, grandson Jack Avant, sister Scarlett (Doug) Mason of McBee, Amber (Steven) Dickerson of Florence, her maternal grandmother Neta Bass of Hartsville, her niece Hilary Pratt of McBee and nephews Mason and Dalton; also many aunts and cousins.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by paternal grandparents William Joseph and Maybelle Lynch Caddell and maternal grandparents David Lee Bass and Myrtle Hill Roscoe.
The family would like to thank with utmost appreciation and gratitude the staff in the ICU unit at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center and the team at Morrell Nursing Center for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dixie's honor to McBee Baptist Church at PO Box 416, McBee, South Carolina 29101.
