Kathleen Page Married In Rites At Holy Family

A mantilla from Switzerland was worn by Kathleen Kimball Page as she married John Patrick Bassett Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church.
The veil was brought from Switzerland for the Page girls by their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Urlin Page of Salem.
Dr. and Mrs. L. Kimball Page are parents of the bride. The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alton John Bassett.
Maryanne Gilbaugh was maid of honor with the bride’s sisters, Molly and Shawna Page, as bridesmaids. Carl Sptiznagel was best man with James Page as usher.
Wedding guests were greeted at a reception at Chalet L’Abbe following the ceremony.
The new Mrs. Bassett, a member of Alpha Phi, was graduated from University of Oregon and taught in Bellevue, Wash. The bridegroom is a second year law school student at U of O.
The newlyweds, who will live in Eugene while Mr. Bassett completes his studies, have planned a wedding trip to Europe in June.

Kathy?s passion was to help others. She helped by sewing bridesmaid gowns, flower girl dresses, curtains, pillowcases, slipcovers, jackets, prom dresses, and once robes for all of the men in the family. Do you see a pattern? She didn?t limit her help to fabric. In one day she helped carry 200 planks of wood up a flight of stairs to Patrick?s backyard when he remodeled his home in Seattle. She helped Kelly carry three couches into her first home. She cooked food and help decorate an amazing baby shower for her best friend?s, first great-grandchild. If you needed help, Kathy was there in spades with energy that often lasted longer than the one requesting assistance.
L. Kimball Page and Estelle Claire Downey welcomed Kathleen Kimball Page on May 2, 1941 in Portland, Oregon. She grew up the second oldest of six children. She graduated from St. Mary?s Academy and the University of Oregon. Kathy had one of the hardest jobs in education, she was a special education teacher. After retiring from teaching in the public schools she opened a computer training company with her sister Molly called The Page Group.
Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her three children from her marriage to John Bassett; son Timothy Bassett and wife Dawn of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Kelly of Milwaukie, Oregon; son Patrick and wife Kathe of Eugene, Oregon; grandchildren Elizabeth, Bailey, Aidan and Emma. Kathy will be sadly missed by her siblings; Stephanie (Brook) Watts, Molly (Mike) Mikolaitis, sister-in-law Trine Page, Shawna Newell and Kim Page Jr & Javier Navarro. She was predeceased by her brother Jim Page. Kathy will be forever remembered by her seven nephews, five nieces and eighteen grand-nieces and nephews with another on the way.
Last January was a tough month for Kathy but as the year progressed her health improved and in July she moved in with her daughter. She was so determined to improve that she would frequently walk the Trolly Trail, or on her treadmill keeping up with the latest political news. She sold her house in November and within the same week found out that she had cancer. Kathy Bassett passed away on January 13, 2020 at the age of 78 after a very short battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Kathy to the Oregon Education Association Foundation, 6900 SW Atlanta Street, Portland, Oregon 97223.
