      There is a marble monument in Lantrithyd church to his memory.

      Will of John Thomas Basset of Lantrithyd, Esq 20 July 1551

      Soul to almighty God, body to be buried in Christian burial. I will that my
      manor of Bonvilston and my mill called the Grett Mylle be divided into three
      parts. I devise two parts to John William of Bonvilston and Jevan ap William
      of Wenvo to hold till such time as they have gathered such issues will pay my
      debts, and thereafter I bequeath the two parts to my daughter Elizabeth, upon
      condition that she marry Thomas Bassett, one of the sons of William Basset of
      Bewpere. If she refuse, or marry someone else the two parts to go to my cousin
      William Basset of Bewpere and his heirs forever, saving that during the life
      of my wife there shall be paid out of the manor to her, towards the reparation
      of my house in Lantrithyd, &3.6s.8d yearly. I bequeath all my callte, vis.
      oxen, kine, sheep, horses, mares and young cattle, wherever they be, to my
      wife for ever. I bequeath my plate and household stuff at Llantrithed to my
      wife during the time she lives there, without any condition; if she removes to
      another place or die the plate and stuff to remain to my daughter Elizabeth
      for ever. I will my daughter be ruled and ordered by my cousin William Basset
      of Bewpere. If Elizabeth dies before the age of 21 the plate and household
      stuff to remain to my wife for her life and afterwards to cousin William for
      ever. And whereas I have bought, jointly with Mr John Coxe, the manor of
      Talevan, with other manors, land and tenements in England, I bequeath t
      manor of Talevan to daughter Elizabeth and her heirs for ever. My will is that
      out of my manor of Bonvilston there by yearly paid to my servants here after
      named to buy them coats; David Basset 10s, Richard Prenche 10s, Thomas David
      Deve 10s, Philip ap Hoell ap Rice 10s, Jevan ap Morgan 10s. Hoell Thomas 10s,
      Hugh Coke 10s, Roland ap Jenkyn 10s, Thomas John Duy 10s. To cousin William
      Basset of Bewpere my term upon the farm of Llanblethian and Ruthyn during the
      years yet to come. To my wife after my death out of the issues of my farm of
      Couwelkayo &10 yearly during the term which I have upon the farm. To Llewellyn
      rent out of the same farm after my death, such portion thereof as shall be
      worth four or five pounds a year during my term therein. To my son Thomas (by
      his first wife) &10 yearly out of my Manor of Bonvilston and Cardiff and
      thereabouts. And after my debts paid, &10 out of my farm of Couwelkayee and he
      to be ordered by my executor John Williams of Bonvilston, otherwise to have
      nothing. To Mr James one of my best geldings, to be delivered to him upon my
      death. And I will that my wife do pay yearly to Mr James during their natural
      lives 13s 4d. Executors: John William of Bonvilsotn and Jevan ap William of
      Wenvo. Overseer: My cousin William Basset of Bewpere. Witnesses: Sir Ri
      Llues, vicar of Penmarke. John Faber, otherwise called Jaems, and John Touley.
      Memorandum: that on 5 August 5 Edward VI (1551) John William and Jev
      William renounced executorship in the presence of Jankyn Frankelyn, John Hyles
      of Croston, Richard Harry, Richard Thomas and Morgan ap Willial, gents; and
      John Touely, yeoman (English; with transcripts of signatures). 21 August 1551
      administration to Elizabeth, relict, in the person of John Touley, Proctor.
