  Notes	The Sampson Democrat, Clinton, North Carolina, 15 December 1921 Mr. J.C. Bass Dead The Democrat regrets to learn of the death of Mr. J.C. Bass, of Westbrooks township, which occurred Saturday morning. Mr. Bass had eaten a fairly hearty breakfast, but started to fall as he left the table. He was caught by his daughter, Mrs. Wiliam A. Jackson, who happened to be at her father?s home. He died within a few minutes, never speaking after his collapse. Mr. Bass was one of the most highly respected citizens of his section. He was about seventy-five years of age, having served creditably in the Confederate army. He was a good neighbor and highly esteemed by all who knew him. Mr. Bass married Miss Martha Jones, a sister of Mr. J.W. Jones, of Godwin. To them were born several sons and daughters, of whom, Messrs, O.HY. and J.L. Bass of Enfield, and Junius M., A.R., Walton, and Braston, and Mesdames W.A. Jackson, W.B.udley, and J.A. Daughtry survive their father. Mrs. Bass is also living and is in good health for her age.
