Margot McDowell

Margot McDowell Bass, 71, of Pensacola, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012. Margot was born in Dumas, MS on August 5, 1940 and had lived in Pensacola since 1956. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Margot graduated from Pensacola High School in 1958 and UWF in 1969. She taught elementary school for 32 years. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. She was always looking for opportunities to help others in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.P. and Gloria McDowell. Survivors include Bob, her devoted husband of 52 years; two sons (and two ?daughters?), Doug and Cheryl Bass of Gulf Breeze and Greg and Sallie Bass of Huntersville, NC; five grandchildren, Tobie and Morgan Bass of Gulf Breeze, Nathaniel, Caleb and Hannah Bass of Huntersville, NC; brother, Don McDowell of Jacksonville, FL and many nieces and nephews. The family is especially grateful to the kind and caring workers of Covenant Hospice whose help made it possible for her to be cared for at home. The family is grateful to the many friends who provided support and encouragement during this time. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Barry Howard officiating at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice or Waterfront Rescue Mission. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME NORTH, 1000 Hwy 29 S.
