William Sherwood Bass
Mr. William Sherwood Bass, 79, passed away at his Wetumpka home on Friday, January 12, 2018.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Wood officiating.
Burial will follow in Wetumpka City Cemetery.
Mr. Bass, one of 7 siblings, was born in Elmore County on October 23, 1938, to the late John Wilbur Bass and Alcie Henderson.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1958.
He worked in the Steel Fabrication industry, and was an owner of Basco Steel for twenty years prior to retirement.
His life?s joy was his hobbies of farming produce, cattle and hogs, and more importantly Alabama Football.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Melba Bass; children, Randall (Diane) Bass, Derek (Melanie) Bass; step children, Steve (Tina) Weldon, Lisa Taylor, Jason (Joanna) Weldon and Maxwell (Jennifer) Brown; siblings, Margaret Sheriff, Betty Hicks and Hanley Bass; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Gassett Funeral Home.
