Carmen Rubio Bass
Carmen Rubio Bass, 93, passed away Sept. 20, 2015, surrounded by members of her loving family.
The family invites all to join them in praying a Rosary for Carmen at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Montgomery.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, and the family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service at Old Oakwood Cemetery for all to attend.
Carmen was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of ten children of Spanish immigrants.
Carmen met her husband of almost 55 years while James Harding Bass (of Wetumpka) was assigned to the U.S. Embassy Air Force Attache' in Buenos Aires.
She shared her gifts with those around including her passion for life, her unwavering Christian faith, her love for swimming and exercise, her tremendous energy and drive, and of course, her quick wit.
Carmen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, "tia," and friend who lived and shared her Catholic faith, which she nurtured daily by attending Mass, and praying the Rosary and her "never ending" novenas.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her nine siblings.
Carmen is survived by her children Cmdr. (Dr.) James D. (Dr. Rhonda) Bass, USN of Jacksonville, Florida, Laura Mullins of Tallassee, Elena Bass of Coral Gables, Florida, Michele (Dr. Steve) Hanam of Grayslake, Illinois and Kelley Tracy of Montgomery and grandchildren Logan Bass, Aiden Bass, Patrick Mullins, Hunter Mullins, Carmen Mullins, Nic Mullins and Claire Hanam.
