BASS, Thomas Williams; a resident of Verbena, Alabama was born on January 21, 1929 in the Wallsboro community and passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the age of 85. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. Funeral services are Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in the Lightwood community with Bro. Jimmy Simpler and Bro. Tommy Bass officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Bass is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Betty P. Bass; son, Thomas "Tommy" (Cindy) Bass, Jr.; daughters, Sheryl "Sherry" (Freddie, Jr.) Strength, Sheila (Frank) Blankenship, and Jonnie Faye (Mike) Blankenship; brothers, Russell Bass, Rayburn (Charlotte) Bass, and James E. Bass; sisters, Laurene Ramsey and Joyce (Ted) Dennard; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Mark Bass, Gene Bass, Harry Dismukes, Jr., Dwight Bass, Cory Bass, Travis Bass, Blake Bass, and H. Earl "Pee Wee" Dismukes. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Dismukes, Jimmy Dismukes, Stacey Bass, Tracy Bass, Al Ramsey, and Ricky Wilcox. Mr. Bass served his country in the U.S. Army and is an honorably discharged veteran. He provided for his family working as an electrician, many of those years with faithful service to Dixie Electric Company.
