The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Parkhill Cemetery, according to the Striffler-Hamby Macon Road Mortuary. Mr. Bass was born March 24, 1928, in Selma, N.C., the son of Mrs. Bertha Marlowe of Wilmington, N.C. and the late Arthur Bass. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea and had lived in Columbus for 23 years. He was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church. Survivors other this his mother include his wife, Mrs. Opal Bass; a daughter, Miss Juanita Bass of Atlanta; a step-daughter, Mrs. Linda Lawrence of Columbus; a step-son, Jack Blair of Lanette, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Britt of Wilmington and Mrs. Alberta Morris of Wichita, Ka.; two brothers, Ernest Bass and Melvin Bass of Wilmington; and five grandchildren.
