Bill Anderson Bass
Bill Anderson Bass, (TSGT, USAF, Ret), 82, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at his home. He had been an Arizona resident for 35 years, with the last 27 spent in Sierra Vista.
Bill was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Rocky Mount, N.C., to Albert Anderson and Serena (Coley) Bass.
Bill served in the Merchant Marines, the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 20 years. He also worked as a military contractor.
He loved animals, especially his cat, China, and two toy poodles, Red and Whitey. He donated regularly to the Humane Society, ASPCA and Nancy J. Brua Animal Shelter of Sierra Vista.
He is survived by his son, Daniel R. Bass; and his fiancée, Andrea Howard of Sierra Vista.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and wife, Marga Bass.
A graveside service with military honors will be Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Cochise Memory Gardens Cemetery, 5590 Charleston Road, Sierra Vista, with Chaplain Gary Lee Harvey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center, 6799 E. Hwy. 90, Sierra Vista, Arizona 85635 or to any animal care shelters.
Arrangements are by Hatfield Funeral Home.
