Funeral rites for John Fitzgerald Bass, 62, Pittsylvania County tobacco grower and retired Danville warehouseman, who died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital, Danville, were conducted Thursday at Ingram Christian Church. Interment was in Highland Burial Park near Danville. Mr. Bass was active in the social and business life of this community. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church and formerly worked at Producer?s Warehouse in Danville, where he lived for some years. Mr. Bass was married twice. His first wife, the Former Miss Cecil Ould, of Halifax County, died several years ago, and he later married Mrs. Bettie Jackson Lester, who survives him. He also is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.H. Harrison, of Durham, N.C., and Mrs. R.M. Wood, of Salem; a son, John F. Bass, Jr. of Danville, and five grandchildren.
