Rev. Clyde Carson Bass
BASS, REV. CLYDE CARSON - age 81, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his home while surrounded by family and friends. Rev. Bass was born July 2, 1931, in Campbell County. He has lived in Oliver Springs since his early childhood. Before his retirement he was employed at TVA and he owned and operated Clyde's Barber Shop in Oliver Springs for 17 years. He was a faithful Christian, and a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He served as the church pastor on three different occasions and he also pastored the Vowel Mountain Baptist Church. Additionally, he proudly served his country in the Tennessee National Guard and the United States Marine Corps. Preacher Bass was preceded in death by his parents, Phil Bass and Ledie Shepherd Bass; and by brothers, Paul, Harry Lee and Willard Bass. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Retha Harness Bass of Oliver Springs; by sons, Ivan C. Bass and wife, Lorraine of Knoxville, Albert Bass and wife, Linda of Clinton, Landon Bass of Norris, Rodney Bass and wife, Freda of Dayton, Tennessee, and Phillip Bass of Oliver Springs; by a daughter, Patti Raines and husband, Tony of Andersonville; by six grandchildren; and by four great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Lively and husband, Clayton of Oliver Springs, and Mary Gardner of Georgia; and by brothers, Porter Bass of Oak Ridge, and Elgin Bass and wife, Judy of Andersonville; and by a host of nieces; nephews; extended family members; loved ones and special friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 19, 2013, between the hours of 12:00 and 2:00 p.m., at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Terry Braden and Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services, with full military honors, will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
