The Rev. Willard C. Bass Retired from Chrysler Corp.
The Rev. Willard C. Bass, 72, of Oliver Springs died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at hie home.
Mr. Bass was born in Campbell County on May 3, 1927, the son of Porter and Leedie Shepherd Bass.
He lived in Michigan and Indiana before returing to Oliver Springs in 1991.
He worked for Chrysler Motor Corp. in Detoirt for four years, for Cornelius Printing for 16 years and for Indy Lighting for 11 years prior to his retirement.
Mr. Bass was a minister for 50 years.
He broadcast a radio program in Shelbyville, Ind., for 20 years. He had also been pastor at Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Indianapolis and Community Missionary Baptist Church of Alexandria, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Crabtree Bass, his daughter, Wilma Cox of Oliver Springs; his son, Cecil Bass of Indianapolis, Ind.; five grandchildren; Jeff Cauldwell, Ray Bass, Melissa Cauldwell, Nathan Bass and Dylan Bass; and three great-grandchildren, Brandy Cauldwell, Dustin Cauldwell and Brian Bass.
He is also survived by three brothers, Porter Bass of Oak Ridge, the Rev. Clyde Bass and his wife, Retha, of Oliver Springs; and Elgin Bass and his wife, Judy, of Andersonville; and two sisters, Evelyn Lively and her husband, Clayton, of Olvier Springs and Mary Gardner and her husband, H.R. of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
In addition to his parents, two brothers, Paul Bass and Harry Bass, and a son-in-law, Gradon Cox, died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Juily 20, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Bass, the Rev .Hayes Bass, the Rev. Bill Bass and the Rev. Harold Duncan will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Mineral Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight July 19, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.
