Bridge Port, 2nd March 1827
Brother Sam,
I saw W. Fisher here a few days since he informed me that he was to have been the bearer of a letter but not fully determined when he left you that you had sent by Mail. I have not received it so of course you did not write. I feel somewhat anxious respecting those claims against our brother's Estate should they be put in suit I must suffer as it is not in my power to pay them for the winter past has been very expensive and has left me in the lurch. There has a number of opportunities offered if I could have been assisted a little, but there seems to be no attention in my case, as I have not means I cannot abtain any, but should I complain at the hand of providence God forbid no I praise him for I have been supported beyond measure for notwithstanding poverty and wretchedness may stare us in the face yet the promise is sure by thoug faithful until death and I will give the crown of life. I should like to see you but cannot except you come here. We are as well as usual and I wish you to write on this reception of this so I add no more.
