May 10, 2015 NILES - Ronald Gene Bass Sr., 75, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles. Ronald was born on July 12, 1939, to the late Kenneth and Helen Bass in Dowagiac, MI. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of Pioneer Memorial Chapel in Berrien Springs. He married Joyce Bass who preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1977. Ronald was an avid golfer and a big Michigan Wolverine fan. He is survived by his son, Ronald (Sukran) Bass, Jr.; daughters, Dr. Monica (Rodney) Swope, Kimberly Lee and Renee (John) Smith; brother, Kenneth Bass, Jr; sister, Glennis Godbee; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Bass; brothers, Michael Bass and Bob Connor; sisters, Janet Ivens and Linda Johnson; and his beloved dog, Casey. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held by the family at 9 am on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Niles.
