Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Odell Walker. Burial will be in the Gilmont Cemetery. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Paul Caddell of Bass, Mrs. Dixie Daniel of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Charlotte Hedding of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Julia Maness of High Falls; four sons, Howard Bass of Winston-Salem, Jessie Bss Jr. of Boise, Idaho, Vernon Bass of Boston, Mass., Charles Bass of Siler City; three brothers, Ed and Chester Bass of Erwin, and Robert Bass of Dunn; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Bledsoe of Hope Mills, Mrs. Minnie Cloady of Erwin and Mrs. Kate Barfoot of Dunn. Active pallbearers will be Claude and Clyde Ratley, George Smith, Neil Sibbitt, Tommy Brown, Tom Sawyer.
